The works on the footings, drainage and access for the hut are due to start next week. This is really exciting, and we hope to have visible progress soon. Thanks in advance for your cooperation as we build this exciting project.

Some really exciting news to share. We have just been awarded £10,000 from the Janet and Bryan Moore Charitable Trust. This is amazing and we thank them for their support (and straightforward paperwork!). The hut is getting ever closer and grants like this help us move on, one more step at a time.
In their own words, ‘ The Janet & Brian Moore Charitable Trust has been established to support projects which unite local communities within the counties of Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.’ you can read more about them at https://www.janetandbryanmooretrust.org.uk
Thanks for the support, and keep visiting for updates.
We thought everyone might like a quick update.
You may have noticed that we have started some work at the scout hut site. We had planned to get the foundations in last week but the weather was against us so we pulled out rather than making a mess. This cost us a bit of good will with the digger hire, so our thanks to Witney Plant for being understanding.
You will have also noticed some tree work taking place. We are removing some small trees because they are within the footprint of the building. These were mainly ash trees that were getting worse from ash die back.
In the next couple of weeks we will also be taking down the sycamore tree on the corner. We had hoped to keep this tree moved the building position to protect its roots. However on further inspection and in consultation with the local Tree Officer unfortunately this tree will be coming down. The base of it is not structurally sounds and the top has been severely damaged by grey squirrels. This is a shame, but everyone we consulted strongly suggested that it had a limited life left and it would only cause challenges for the build and the hut.
It’s our intention to improve the environment at the scout hut site over the next few years. You will just need to bear with us as we go through this first stage of development.
We’ll put an update on again to let you know when we will be back on site for the main building works. You will see us moving some of the fences around and doing some marking out. Please come and have a chat if you are passing.
I came across this online.

10 years ago Scouts were raising money for a new hut. And it was snowing! The costs have crept up, but we are finally starting work. Well done to the countless people who have played their part.
It’s exciting times at the Scout Hut! We are starting the enabling works for the build works. This will involve clearing access down the lane and around the hut. We are using local tree surgeons who know the site and the access and will be considerate.
If they have to close the path for a short while please bear with them, and keep checking in for progress.
We have just been delivering letters to local residents. It is attached below for people to see.
