A surefooted start (we have footings!)

Many people have said that once. We have the footings down we will cross the big barrier, and I’m pleased to see that the footings are now down!

We excavated a bit more than we thought and we’ve had to have bigger footings than we anticipated. But we’re now there. There’s going to be a break over Christmas and in the new year to allow the weather to pass and the builders to clean their wellies, but it’s great to see the progress we are making.

The builders have been scraping back the worst of the clay from the track and, although the top later is a little muddy, there is good Stonesfield stone beneath it. If you are using the path please ensure you wear wellies or boots, but it isn’t too bad (we still have Scouts down there each Thursday, so we know what it is like!)

At the end of phase one it’s a good time to remind people that we are all volunteers running the build, and that it is all from grants and donations. We have had to spend more of the footings than we had hoped, and so we are still on the lookout for some more grants and support. Please let us know if you can help, or know someone who can.

Merry Christmas to all, and see you at the Bingo on Friday!
